Kapitolyo is becoming my favorite place to search for food and coffee ever since Tambay Cycling Hub moved to East Capitol Drive last March. A majority of the places here have some sort of bike parking available, so it’s easy for me to just bring my bike and choose where to eat.

And sitting along East Capitol Drive as well is Coffee Industry, one of the newer cafes this side of town. It has an inviting charm that makes you want to settle in with a good drink.

The interiors are modern-industrial with a touch of teal. The place feels more than a beach cafe than one you’ll find in the city. Either way, I found it to be a good place to focus, take a nap, or chat with friends without being rushed. In fact, when I really need to take a nap, this is my go-to cafe.

The space isn’t massive, but it’s definitely well-designed. The central and ambient lighting create a cozy atmosphere that isn’t distracting.

What really gives the cafe its unique personality is the subtle attention to detail, including owner Jaime Martinez’s vinyl record player. Sometimes, you might just catch the soothing crackle of a well-loved record playing in the background. From mellow jazz to old-school soul, his collection adds an intimate vibe that makes the whole place feel like an extension of your home.

Bike Parking Situation

One of the things I love about Coffee Industry is how bike-friendly it is. After all, Jaime loves anything that’s got two wheels. This makes him A-OK in my book.

There are two bike stands right at the entrance, so cyclists can rest easy knowing their steeds are within sight while they’re enjoying their coffee.

And sorry-not-sorry to the car-owners out there: there’s no dedicated car parking. If you’re driving, you might need to find a place to park your car elsewhere (now you know how it feels, mehe).

Fan Favorites in Their Menu

Coffee Industry sticks to the classics, so you’ll find your usual here. Their bestseller is the Spanish Latte and it’s easy to see why. It’s smooth, perfectly balanced between sweet and strong, and doesn’t overwhelm your taste buds with sugar. It’s perfect for first-time visitors.

Personally though, I like their non-coffee menu, and stick to their sweet Chocolate White drink. It’s a comfortable choice especially for hot afternoons, after cycling around the city.

Kapitolyo’s Easy-Going Cafe

Coffee Industry resembles the vibe of Kapitolyo: chill and unpretentious. With a familiar menu, a relaxed environment, and visible bike parking, it’s a refreshing addition to the neighborhood’s growing list of hangout spots.

If you’re in the area, grab a latte and take a breather with Jaime and the rest of the Kapitolyo gang. You might just be the next regular.
